Frequently Asked Questions

CrossFit is an extremely effective way to improve your overall fitness and get in shape. Our workouts are constantly varied, functional movements (like pushups and pullups, deadlifts and squats, gymnastics, kettlebells, running, rowing, and olympic lifting), executed at high intensity in a small group setting.

We currently have 2 locations. GYM 1971 Stratford is just a short 5 minute walk from stratford underground station in East London UK. Unit 3 Hutchins Close, London, E15 2JE.

GYM 1971 Wimbledon is just a short walk from South Wimbledon Underground station in South London UK. 21 Lombard Road, London, SW19 3TZ.

We promise you have absolutely nothing to worry about, you’ll be fine, trust us.

However if you’re still worried about booking an intro class why not stop by and chat with one of our friendly coaches who will put your mind at ease. Perhaps stay a little and watch part of the class going on.

CrossFit is for anyone, regardless of their age or fitness level. Our members range from professional athletes and members of emergency services to people in their mid 50’s and Canary wharfs desk workers. In short, if you care about health, real-world performance, or just want to look better naked, CrossFit is for you.

No. We require everyone to take Fundamentals, so that we can make sure all of our members have a basis of safe and effective movement. That also makes CrossFit classes better for everyone as everyone in the class has the basic skill level.

While we are not doctors (and we highly recommend you discuss any workout program with yours), we do find that many of our members have successfully used CrossFit to rehabilitate from injuries. People continue to move, work, and play in the real world regardless of injury history, we believe the best route to long-term health is to learn perfect form on functional movements, and to slowly build strength in those movements, rather than to avoid them altogether. Our Coaches are always happy to work with you to scale and substitute exercises and tailor workouts to your abilities. That said, we cannot offer you specific medical advice, and advise that you consult your doctor before starting this (or any other) exercise program.

Yes we do! Private showers and towel service are available.

Yes but it has to be approved by the Head Coach. You will get better and faster results by working with a qualified coach in a controlled environment – either in classes or one-on-one sessions – than working out alone.

Just yourself, basic ‘workout clothes’: shorts, t-shirt, trainers and a sense of humour. We provide everything else.
